Aluminum foil sheet can be classified by different division methods, including shapes, feeling states, surface states and further processing states.
By shapes aluminum foil sheet contain roll foil and sheet foil. Most of its blanks are of roll, and sheets mostly serve as raw material for packaging industry. The foil sheet is classified into hard type, semi-hard type and soft hard type by feeling states. The hard type refers to aluminum foil without soft treatment. If used for forming process the foil serves as good raw material, but if for coating, sticking or printing it must go through an ungrease treatment first because grease makes the surface too smooth to be coated or printed. Semi-hard type foil, the hardness of which ranks between that of hard and soft types, usually functions as material for forming process. Soft foil, after complete annealing, becomes soft and clean with no remaining grease. It covers a wide range of application like packaging, composite material, electrical engineering materials etc.
In accordance with surface states people divide aluminum foil sheet into one-side bright type and both-side bright type. One side bright foil is obtained by rolling two pieces of foil together. In this way, the side contacting rollers turns bright yet the other side dark. The thickness is usually no more than 0.025mm. Both side bright foil, processed by rolling one piece a time, has bright surfaces for both sides. Owing to different degrees in roughness of rollers for different sides, one side is commonly brighter than the other, and the former is called mirror bright side. The thickness of this type is normally 0.01mm and above. Aluminum foil sheet, classified through further processing states, include plain type, embossed type, composite type, coated type, colored type (which can be further divided as in Coloured Aluminium Sheet Coating Types) and printed type. Plain aluminum foil has gone through no more process after being rolled. Embossed sheet has various designs on the surface. Composite foil contains elements of plastics and paper as well as aluminum. Coated foil is coated with resins or paintings on the surface. Colored foil usually has one singular color for one side. Printed foil can be printed with designs, pictures, words of as many as 12 colors.
